The Enrolled Nurse<\/strong> is responsible for direct and\/or indirect nursing care of a patient or group of patients and will function under the direct and\/or indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse.
\nThe incumbent is held accountable for his\/her own acts and omissions.
\nNursing activities form part of a nursing regime that is planned and initiated by the Registered Nurse. The Enrolled Nurse will be responsible for the assessment, care and meeting of patient needs and will also be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of appropriate programmes of care to ensuring high quality patient care.<\/p>\n

Role summary:<\/b><\/p>\n

KEY WORK OUTPUT AND ACCOUNTABILITIES<\/b><\/p>\n

CONSISTENCY OF CARE<\/b>Administration Management<\/b>
\n\u2022 Ensure that all documentation is maintained timeously and accurately, reflecting patient care.
\n\u2022 Ensure all stock is charged appropriately.
\n\u2022 Assist with file compilation. Governance, quality and risk management<\/b>
\n\u2022 Maintain a therapeutic, clean and safe environment that is free from medico-legal hazards.
\n\u2022 Adhere to Netcare medical waste management principles and all other waste management principles.
\n\u2022 Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with the Machinery and Occupational Safety Act.
\n\u2022 Report potential\/actual risks identified.
\n\u2022 Ensure all stock is well controlled.
\n\u2022 Responsible for ensuring correct use, cleaning and storage of equipment.
\n\u2022 Report equipment needing repair or replacement to sister-in-charge.
\n\u2022 Maintain professional conduct and standards at all times in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
\n\u2022 Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
\n\u2022 Acts in a supervisory capacity over ENA\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Patient care<\/b>
\n\u2022 Practice patient care according to his\/her Scope of Practice and assume total responsibility for these activities.
\n\u2022 Contribute to the holistic care of patients.
\n\u2022 Participate in ward\/unit\u2019s quality improvement programme.
\n\u2022 Attend handover of report at shift commencement.
\n\u2022 Effective communication with patients\u2019 regarding their care.
\n\u2022 Promotion of patient overall health and wellbeing.
\n\u2022 Practice the principles of infection prevention and all standard precautions.
\n\u2022 Promote and maintain good public relations with patients, relatives and visitors.
\n\u2022 Execute all procedures according to hospital standards.
\n\u2022 Refer all complaints from patients and doctors to sister-in-charge of the unit.
\n\u2022 Carry out all departmental duties as assigned by supervisors.<\/p>\n

Registration with the South African Nursing Council as an Enrolled Nurse or equivalent NQF 3 qualification.<\/p>\n

Compliance with the SANC code for an Enrolled Nurse and all applicable health care legislation.<\/p>\n

Relevant experience in the nursing discipline would be an advantage<\/p>\n
