{"id":228,"date":"2024-03-16T15:39:44","date_gmt":"2024-03-16T15:39:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/job-s.co.za\/?p=228"},"modified":"2024-03-16T15:39:44","modified_gmt":"2024-03-16T15:39:44","slug":"phase-5-teachers-assistants-and-school-general-assistants-2024-applications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/job-s.co.za\/?p=228","title":{"rendered":"Phase 5 | Teachers assistants and School General Assistants (2024 Applications)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Who can apply for teacher\u2019s assistant jobs in Phase 5?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>The following people will be eligible to be appointed to these jobs:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You must be between the ages of 18 and 35 years old.<\/li>\n<li>You must be a South African resident with a valid RSA ID book or card or valid passport, or you must have a valid work permit;<\/li>\n<li>You must live no further than 5km from the school where you will be employed, unless you\u2019ll be working at a farm school, when this will be extended to 30km.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>You are not currently employed.<\/li>\n<li>You\u2019re not studying either part-time or full-time, or are participating in a\u00a0learnership.<\/li>\n<li>You\u2019re not currently receiving any government grants.<\/li>\n<li>You\u2019re not currently receiving any salary, wage or stipend.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>You don\u2019t have a criminal record.<\/li>\n<li>You weren\u2019t unfairly advantaged by knowing any staff members at the school.<\/li>\n<li>You\u2019ve attended and successfully completed all the compulsory training for the position and received the relevant certificates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What does a teacher\u2019s assistant do?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a teacher\u2019s assistant, or TA, you\u2019ll perform a range of functions and responsibilities depending on your level of experience, your TA status, and the school where you\u2019re employed. In essence, your job boils down to giving essential support to the teachers in a school you\u2019re assigned to.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">What will my responsibilities as a teacher\u2019s assistant be?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>As stated above, these will vary according to the level of your post, and what the teacher you\u2019re assisting wants you to do on a day-to-day basis,\u00a0 But in general a teacher\u2019s assistant\u2019s job usually comprises the following responsibilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Overseeing and helping with the teaching activities in the classroom.<\/li>\n<li>Helping the teacher with lesson planning and admin duties.<\/li>\n<li>Creating displays and getting the classroom and resources ready for lessons.<\/li>\n<li>Supporting the teacher in managing difficult pupil behaviour and fostering positive behaviour and attitudes.<\/li>\n<li>Helping outside the classroom with after-school activities and clubs, school functions, school trips or other school-related activities.<\/li>\n<li>Helping with revision and exams.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applicants who don\u2019t have internet access can call 0800 727272, which is a toll-free number.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Basic Education is committed to providing equal opportunities and practicing<br \/>\naffirmative action employment.
