{"id":942,"date":"2024-09-08T05:31:15","date_gmt":"2024-09-08T05:31:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/job-s.co.za\/?p=942"},"modified":"2024-09-08T05:31:15","modified_gmt":"2024-09-08T05:31:15","slug":"saps-is-hiring-security-officer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/job-s.co.za\/?p=942","title":{"rendered":"SAPS is Hiring  Security Officer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>POST:<\/strong> Security Officer<br \/>\n<strong>LOCATION:<\/strong> Auxiliary Services, Head Office, Pretoria<br \/>\nLEVEL OF REMUNERATION R155 148 per annum<br \/>\n<strong>REFERENCES:<\/strong> AS\/08\/2024 (43 posts)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Post Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applicants must display competency in the post-specific core functions of the post; Be fluent<br \/>\nin at least two of the official languages, of which one must be English;<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Be a South African Citizen; Must have no previous criminal \/ departmental convictions or<br \/>\ncriminal \/ departmental cases pending; A<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0pplicants will be subjected to a vetting process which will include security screening and<br \/>\nfingerprint verification;<\/li>\n<li>Be in possession of a Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or National Certificate (Vocational)<br \/>\nrecorded on the National Learner Record Database on NQF level 4;<\/li>\n<li>Registration with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA);<\/li>\n<li>Be in possession of at least a Grade C security certificate or higher;<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Not declared unfit to possess a fire-arm;<\/li>\n<li>Be willing to undergo firearm competency training;<\/li>\n<li>Be willing to maintain firearm competency;<\/li>\n<li>Must have no criminal record or pending criminal \/ departmental cases; Degree \/ Diploma in<br \/>\nthe field of security will be an added advantage;<\/li>\n<li>Relevant courses in the field of the post as well as valid driver\u2019s license for at least a light<br \/>\nmotor vehicle will serve as an advantage;<\/li>\n<li>Be willing to work shifts and extended hours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Core Functions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Execute Access Control in terms of the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles<br \/>\nAct (Act No. 53 of 1985);<\/li>\n<li>Positive identification of employees, visitors and contactors at the security access point;<\/li>\n<li>Registering of employees, visitors and contractors, electronic searching of employees,<br \/>\nvisitors and contractors;<\/li>\n<li>Authorize entry in to the premises to employees, visitors and contractors after complying<br \/>\nwith all the legislative requirements, confirm visits with the hosts and ensure escort in line<br \/>\nwith the prescripts; Issue admission control cards to visitors and receive them back;<\/li>\n<li>Keep the necessary visitor\u2019s register;<\/li>\n<li>Check suppliers, articles and objects, where necessary, before they are allowed to be<br \/>\nbrought into the premises to ensure that the safety of the premises will not be threatened;<\/li>\n<li>Patrol buildings and fenced-off areas;<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Guard vehicles and equipment in the field \u2013 ONLY from a security point of view;<\/li>\n<li>Check all security equipment and facilities and take action, when necessary;<\/li>\n<li>Bring any deficiencies or problems with regard to security matters to the attention of senior<br \/>\nsecurity personnel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>General:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The closing date for applications is 2024-09-20 at 16:00.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Only the official application form (available on the SAPS website (www.saps.gov.za) and at<br \/>\nSAPS recruitment offices\/Police Stations) will be accepted. All instructions on the application<br \/>\nform must be adhere to. Failure to do so may result in the rejection of the application. The<br \/>\nZ83 previously utilized will no longer be accepted.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applications must be e-mailed timeously. Late applications will not be accepted or<br \/>\nconsidered.<\/li>\n<li>The post particulars and reference number of the post must be correctly specified on<br \/>\nthe application form.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae as well as well as uncertified copies of an applicant\u2019s<br \/>\nID document, motor vehicle driver\u2019s licence (where required), all educational qualifications<br \/>\nobtained together with academic records thereof and service certificates of previous<br \/>\nemployers stating the occupation, must be submitted together with the application form.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Original documentations of short-listed candidates must be produced during the selection<br \/>\nprocess as requested.<\/li>\n<li>Qualifications and driver\u2019s licences submitted will be subjected to verification with<br \/>\nthe relevant institutions.<\/li>\n<li>The South African Police Service will verify the residential address of applicants and conduct<br \/>\nreference checks on all short listed candidates.<\/li>\n<li>All short-listed candidates will be subjected to fingerprint screening.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Short-listed candidates for appointment to certain identified posts, will be vetted in<br \/>\nterms of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act,<br \/>\n2007 (Act No 32 of 2007) and the Children\u2019s Act, 2005 (Act No 38 of 2005). A candidate<br \/>\nwhose particulars appear in either the National Register for Sex Offenders or Part B<br \/>\nof the Child Protection Register, will be disqualified from appointment to that post.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Persons with previous convictions are excluded.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0If a candidate is short-listed, it can be expected of him \/ her to undergo a personal interview<br \/>\nand subjected to security clearance.<\/li>\n<li>Appointments will be made in terms of the South African Police Service Act, (Act 68<br \/>\nof 1995) and the Public Service Act, 1994 (Act 108 of 1994) as applicable to the post<br \/>\nenvironment.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Correspondence will be conducted with successful candidates only.
